Electrical Testing (EICR) In SE London & Kent

It is recommended that electrical installations are regularly checked and tested at various intervals, for example, a rented property required testing every 5 years by law, some businesses will require more regular testing for insurance purposes.

An EICRs cost is dependent upon either the number of bedrooms within the property or the number of circuits and fuseboards within the installation & even on the presence of previous paperwork & test certification.

An EICR for a 2 bedroom property starts at £220 with larger properties increasing from that cost based on the size & complexity of the installation

It is important to discuss with your chosen test engineer just what they intend to check. Some checks can be a basic visual check of the installation whilst some can be more thorough.

An EICR from us would include the verification of the properties main earthing & the equipotential bonding to the gas and water pipework (if applicable), checking the metering & distribution equipment including consumer unit(s), isolation switches etc, verifying cables types, size & condition, sampling accessories such as lights, sockets, switches etc to check for damage and then performing tests with a testing instrument on circuits with and without the power energised, all is then compiled in to a report and sent to you in PDF form with either a satisfactory or unsatisfactory outcome

An EICR on a 2 bedroom property would usually take 2-3 hours, a 3 bedroom EICR would take between 3-4 hours, larger domestic installations would take more time depending on the size and complexity.

Commercial EICRs tend to take between 4 hours for smaller premises, up to days or weeks for much larger installations
