We were approached by our clients in the progress estate in Eltham SE9 who wanted to create a garden office to allow them to work from home but wanted a separate space from the main house. We were asked to install the new electrical supply from their house consumer unit and the complete design and install of the internal electrical installation within the office.

Duration of works:

• The work was carried out across 2 days with the Steel wire armoured (SWA) supply from the existing consumer unit, along the garden and in to a separate consumer unit within the newly formed garden office & the internal installation being undertaken the next day.

Scope of Works:

• Supply & install new SWA supply from consumer house consumer unit to new garden office
• Supply & install new consumer unit in new garden office
• Design & install new LED lighting & sockets around perimeter walls of garden office
• Issue electrical certification for new works carried out

Initial Contact & Consultation:

As with all of our projects, our process began with an initial consultation & survey to understand the client’s individual requirements. Once we gained an insight in to what was required, we produced our proposal which was accepted and preparations began to get the installation carried out.

Garden office supply & internal installation

• Newly SWA installed from consumer unit via MCB
• RCBO populated consumer unit with main switch installed within garden office
• Perimeter trunking installed to allow for easy adaptation or addition of extra sockets
• Conduit installation for to supply 2no. ceiling LED slimline batten light fittings with light switch installed by entrance door
• Test & certify new works carried out

Completion & Compliance Certification

Upon completion, we conducted full electrical testing and issued the necessary Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) and Part P Building Control compliance documentation, as required by BS7671 regulations.
